The polishing pads needed to be "broken in". Maybe the 4000rpm recommendation is my problem with these pads. My polisher is about 3000rpm max. They are thick and not very flexible. I will buy the 3-step JX brand in the future.

Have now thrown away all my old 7 step traditional pads and use these exclusively. Black granite, white granite, exotic, doesn't matter. Perfect every time. I simply prep/profile my edge with 100 grit pad then 3 steps and done. Highly, highly recommend. Only issue I've had is the 3rd pad falling apart sooner than the others which is likely due to excessive rpm in my part...
